Southeast Michigan is home to the majority of businesses and industry in our state including manufacturing, construction, technology, foodservice and healthcare. Capital Insurance Group is proud to serve many of these industries and businesses among others that make up the fabric of our great state.
Pinpointing Liability Exposures
Securing proper general liability coverage for your business is integral to providing an effective and responsive insurance program. At Capital, this involves conducting a complete risk assessment to pinpoint where hidden exposures may lie and where coverage gaps exist. Our insurance professionals will:
- Review all existing contracts, leases, subcontracts and vendor agreements to determine your liability exposure and obligation in the event of a loss.
- Review your Certificates of Insurance language and liability limits, including wavier of subrogation clauses and blanket additional insured forms.
Our Audit Review
We will also perform a policy audit to make sure the premiums you’re paying are accurate and reflect your actual risk exposure. With general liability insurance, the premium charged at the beginning of a policy term is only a deposit based on an estimate (usually total payroll or receipts/sales) for the current policy year. We want to ensure that when the insurance company conducts an audit you are not subject to a dramatic additional premium. Alternatively, you may be paying too much, which will require immediate adjusting.
Also, if you’ve had a material change in your operations, this may increase or decrease liability risk and create new liability rating classifications and rates on your policy during an audit. Our staff will take the time to review all of this with you.
Inside the General Liability Policy
A general liability insurance policy can be designed to provide broad coverage including:
- Bodily Injury Liability (slips and falls, for example)
- Damage to Third-Party Property
- Medical Expenses (other than employees)
- Personal & Advertising Injury
- Products & Completed Operations
- Pollution Liability
- Employee Benefits Liability
- And More
Depending on your specific operation, we will customize your general liability insurance with additional features and enhancements. Also, while a general liability policy offers a broad spectrum of coverages, there are certain exposures not typically covered, such as management liability, errors & omissions, employment practices and cyber to name a few. We offer robust insurance products to address these and other risks.
